Under the door-to-door cancer detection program, 112 cancer patients have been detected in Erode district in the last one and a half years, said Housing Minister S Muthusamy.
He inaugurated the Stalin Health Camp Project in Vellode area near Erode today. At that time, he said: The medical infrastructure in Tamil Nadu is excellent. However, this special medical camp has been organized across Tamil Nadu to make it easy for people to diagnose and get treatment for their diseases. 1256 camps are to be held in Tamil Nadu for the next six months, three per block. In this, people can get treatment for 17 types of diseases. Also, the differently-abled can get an identity card and Aadhaar card along with medical treatment. Medical cards are given to all those who undergo the test. This can be fllllollowed up in private and government hospitals. An identity card can be obtained under the Chief Minister's medical insurance scheme. Many people are not even aware of the disease they have. They help them to know their disease during the test and get treatment. Pregnant women are also treated here.
Later, he told reporters: Under the special
cancer detection program, cancer detection cards were given to 3 lakh people in Erode district. Out of which, 1.5 lakh people voluntarily underwent cancer screening. In the last one and a half years, 121 people have been diagnosed with oral, breast and cervical cancer and are being treated. There is a cancer treatment center in the Erode Government Hospital. Appropriate equipment will be arranged in it soon. It is being said that there is a high rate of cancer in Erode district. However, steps are being taken in the medical sector to diagnose and treat cancer and prevent it from occurring. The allegation of kidney sale is under investigation. The government hospital has quality medicines and enough doctors. Therefore, the allegations made by former Chief Minister Edappadiyar are not true. He says that Amma mini clinics have been closed. But the Illam Thorum Medicine program is working more than that. Through this, diseases are diagnosed at home and medicine is provided.  Collector Kandasamy, Erode East MLA VC Chandrakumar and many others attended the program.
