The 127th Flower Show in Ooty is set to take place from May 16 to 21 at the Government Botanical Garden. The annual event, organized by the Flower Show and Exhibition Committee, attracts visitors from across the world and features a variety of floral displays and exhibitions.
The Flower Show and Exhibition Committee is responsible for planning the event, making decisions on income and expenditure, and overseeing the arrangements. The committee includes key officials such as the Director of Horticulture and Committee Chairman, the Nilgiris District Collector as Deputy Chairman, the Nilgiris District Horticulture Joint Director as Secretary, and representatives from various government departments, including the District Superintendent of Police and the District Revenue Officer.
A meeting of the Flower and Herb Exhibition Committee was held at the Additional Collector's Office in Ooty, chaired by Director of Horticulture Kumaravel Pandian (via video conference) and Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya. Several important decisions were made regarding the schedule and organization of the upcoming exhibitions.
In addition to the Flower Show, several other exhibitions will be held in different locations within the Nilgiris district. The 13th Vegetable Show will take place in Kotagiri on May 3 and 4, followed by the 11th Perfume Show in Gudalur from May 9 to 11.
The 20th Rose Show will be held at the Government Rose Garden from May 10 to 12, and the 65th Prakadachi will take place at Sims Park, Coonoor, from May 23 to 25.
For the first time, a mountain crop exhibition will be held at Katteri Park in Coonoor on May 31 and June 1.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director of Horticulture Sibila Mary and other horticulture officials, who discussed the arrangements to ensure a successful event.
