In the Hindu Munnani's Ganesha idol procession held from Sampathnagar to Karungalpalayam in Erode, 134 idols were immersed in the Cauvery river. The idols were kept in public places in Erode town for Vinayagar Chaturthi festival which falls on August 31 and poojas were held. An 11 feet tall idol of Lakshmi Kubera Vinayagar was erected in Erode Sampathnagar.
While the idol immersion programmes have already been completed in various places including Gobi and Sathy in the district, the programme took place in Erode yesterday after special poojas.The programme was presided over by P. Jagadeesan, District President of the Munnani. State General Secretary JS Kishore Kumar, District General Secretary P. Sakthimurugesh, Treasurer G. Govindaraj, Secretary K. Karthi took the lead. Hindu Front Coimbatore Spokesperson A.Krishnan and State Vice President N.Shanmugasundaram spoke.
Modakuruchi MLA Dr. C. Saraswati, E. Chandrasekhar, P. Mahendran and many others participated in the programme. RR Tulasi Builders Managing Director RR Sathyamurthy flagged off the procession. Over 600 policemen led by SP Sasimohan involved in security duty.
