14 shops in Tiruppur sealed for selling gutka, pan masala products

Tiruppur Collector T Christuraj, along with city police, conducted raids on behalf of the Department of Food Safety and sealed 14 shops in Tiruppur for selling gutka, pan masala, and Cool Lip on June 26. These shops were fined Rs. 3,75,000 for selling the banned products.
Addressing the media, the district collector said, “We have been shutting shops and imposing fines on them for selling products like gutka, pan masala, and Cool Lip, which are banned by the Tamil Nadu government. 
The Department of Food Safety and Police department, in a combined effort, conducted inspections and sealed shops selling banned products.” The collector also urged the general public to raise complaints against shops selling gutka.
