159 cleft repair surgeries for kids during COVID lockdown

Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences has partnered with “Smile Train” an  International Children’s charity that supports 100% - free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care for children globally.

The programme comprises comprehensive Cleft Care management include surgery, speech therapy, cleft orthodontics and cleft prosthodontics 
are provided with world class infrastructure by availing complete free treatment to the patient which includes investigations, surgeries, medicines, also free food, accommodation and transport for patients and their attenders. 

Since its started in the year 2018, 40 surgeries were performed. 
During the COVID lockdown in 2020, 159 surgeries were done. The countdown continues till date with a total of 794 cases.
