For the second day in a row, the Income Tax (IT) Department is conducting raids at the KCP company’s office owned by Vadavalli Chandrasekhar in Coimbatore.A close friend of former AIADMK minister S.P Velumani and a key AIADMK functionary, Vadavalli Chandrasekhar, is the publisher of AIADMK's official daily NamadhuAmma and a shareholder in a private company named as KCP. During the AIADMK rule, Chandrasekhar used to take multi-crore contracts for municipal corporation works and smart city works and through that he did various works.
Vadavalli Chandrasekhar was subjected to two raids by Department of Vigilance and Anticorruption in the tender fraud case against former minister S.P Velumani. Following this on Wednessday, the IT Department officials conducted raids at 6 places including Chandrasekhar's house and office. The search, which began at 11 am and ended at 12.45 midnight, at six places, including Chandrasekhar's house in Vadavalli area.
Following this, the IT Department's officials have been conducting raids at Chandrasekhar's office and KCP's office for the second day. While key documents were reportedly seized
during the raids conducted at the houses, more documents are expected to be seized in the second day of ongoing raids.
While the single leadership in the AIADMK has taken a crucial turn, the income tax department’s raid based on complaints of tax evasion and tender malpractice against Vadavalli Chandrasekhar has created a stir in AIADMK circles in Coimbatore.Similarly in Chennai, IT Department’s raids continue for second day at S.P.K company-owned properties. Income tax audit is being conducted at more than 45 places in Tamil Nadu including Chennai in relation to two contractors.
S.P.K Construction Company is operating with its headquarters at Aruppukkottai, Virudhunagar District. Keelamudi Mannarkottai in Kamudi taluk in Ramanathapuram District is the native palce of Seiyadurai, owner of S.P.K. the company. He has four sons,Easwaran, Nagarajan, Balasubramanian and Karuppasamy.
After a complaint of income tax evasion was received against this company, the IT Department is conducting raids for the 2 nd day today at 12 places including the head office at Arupukottai, the owner's house at Ramanathapuram, the office at T.Nagar in Chennai, Nagarajan's house and cousin Deepak's house. More than 50 officers are involved in the raid, said sources.
