2,00,000 tourists visits Yercaud Summer Fest, Flower Show extended till May 30

During the Summer Festival, approximately 200,000 tourists visited Yercaud, with over 100,000 visiting various parks including Anna Park, Rose Garden, Lake Park, and Botanical Garden.Due to popular demand, the flower display at Anna Park, managed by the Horticulture Department, has been extended by the district administration for an additional four days until May 30, 2024 said the Collector R Brindadevi who presided over the valedictory function of the Summer Festival on Sunday.

Around 35,000 tourists enjoyed the boat house managed by the Tourism Department.The annually held festival featured events such as a no-oven cooking competition, mountain climbing, cycling, football, shot put, tug-of-war, pet fair, and horse riding adventure etc, organized by multiple government departments, attracting a significant number of tourists from across the country.

Offcers and employees who played a crucial role in the successful organization of the 47th Yercaud Summer Festival and Flower Show were honored for their contribution. The collector awarded several departments, including the District Rural Development Agency, Department of Revenue, Department of Horticulture and Hill Crops, Department of Tourism, Police, Fire Department, Highway Department, Medical Department, Municipal Corporation, and Tamil Nadu Government Transport Corporation. Special recognition was given to the sanitation workers for their diligent efforts during the festival.

The valedicatory ceremony was attended by officials including Dr.Alarmel MangaiDistrict Rural Development Agency Additional Collector (Development), AmbayiranathanSalem Revenue Divisional Officer,Mrs. G.Malini,Deputy Director of Horticulture,Mr. P.Iravikumar, Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Mrs. A. MayilSpecial Assistant Collector (Social Security Scheme), and Assistant Director (Municipalities) Mrs. Sangamithrai. Tourists and government officials from various departments were also present.
