Two college students were killed on the spot when a private bus turned turtle at Pallagoundanpalayam in Tirupur district near Erode border on Thursday. Also, more than 20 people were injured.
The private bus departed from Tirupur to Erode at 8.30 am today. When the driver tried to overtake a freight truck on the national highway at Pallakoundampalayam, Sengapalli, the bus driver lost control and the bus turned turtle.
In the accident, Periyasamy and Harikrishnan of a Erode private college, in Perundurai, died on the spot. Also, 21 people were injured.
The injured have been rescued and admitted to the Perundurai Government Medical College hospitals and various hospitals in Erode and Tirupur districts for treatment.
More than 5 people are losing their hands and feet and are being treated in intensive care unit of Perundurai Medical College Hospital. Tirupur police are investigating.
More than 20 people who were injured in the accident were brought to the Medical College and many seriously injured persons were sent to Coimbatore Medical College hospital.
Perundurai. On hearing, Housing Minister S Muthusamy rushed to the hospital and directed the doctors to give due treatment to the injured. Similarly, Perundurai MLA Jayakumar went to the place and consoled the injured.
