31st. National Chess Championship to be held at Dr.Mahalingam College of Engg & Tech

In a tribute to the founder and former chairman of the Sakthi Group of Industries, Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam, Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering & Technology, Pollachi and Coimbatore District Chess Association jointly organized the MPL 31st National Under 18 Chess Championships (open and girls) at the college from April 18 to 23, 2022.
Coimbatore District Chess Association, is celebrating its 80th year. 

A total of 237 players – 142 in the open section and 95 in the girls’ category from 22 states are participating in the six day event. 

Fourteen year old international master H. Bharath Subramaniyam of Tamil Nadu, who will be conferred with the grandmaster title later this month, is the top seeded player, having a rating of 2503. The champions will represent India in the World Youth chess championships, to be held later this year.
