34th convocation in Avinashilingam Institute

The 34th Annual Convocation of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women (Deemed to be University), recently accredited by the NAAC with A++ Grade with the highest CGPA of 3.65/4, was held last week  at the Thiruchitrambalam Auditorium in the University premises, strictly adhering to the Covid ’19 protocols.

Hon’ble Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. Prof. S.P.Thyagarajan, Chancellor, presided over the Convocation. During the Convocation, a total number of 2703 candidates from all disciplines including 90 Medal Winners, 52 Ph.Ds., 2 M.Phils., 29 PG Diploma/Advanced Diploma, 554 Postgraduates and 2066 Undergraduates were conferred their degrees. 

The Ph.D. and M.Phil. Scholars and the rank holders received their degrees on the stage.  The Convocation was graced by the Managing Trustee of Avinashilingam Education Trust, Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Members of the Board of Management and Academic Council, Academic and Administrative officials, Special Invitees and around 2000 Parents in person.

The Vice Chancellor Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar welcomed the gathering. Shri. Dharmendra Pradhan, in his Convocation Address, remembered with reverence the founder of Avinashilingam University Shri. T.S. Avinashilingam Ayya, for having started this Institution to empower women in the Post-Modern era.  

He stated that Avinashilingam University is primarily serving the people from the bottom of the pyramid, with a low fee structure and an inspirational ambience. NEP focuses on Research and encompasses the futuristic plan of the Honourable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modiji to form more digital universities.

Hon’ble Minister appreciated that Avinashilingam University is following the features of NEP, highlighting the 
Gurudakshta,  mentoring the teachers as well as the students alike.  He concluded with the hope that Avinashilingam University will become the epicenter of new ideas and innovations.
