6 of a family held on theft charge

A series of theft incident was reported in 5 houses at Pasumai Barathi  Nagar and Ganapathy Nagar, Mulapalayam, Erode on the night of May 13. From the houses, a retired engineer and post master, 39 sovereign jewels and Rs 2 lakh were stolen. 

On the basis of CCTV footage, it was known that a gang of Telangana involved in the theft and police arrested Vijay of Warangal, his wife Meena, his brother Mani, Mani's wife Lakshmi, Mani's brother in law Surya and his wife Barathi. Police seized 39 sovereign jewels and Rs 1 lakh from them. It is said that over 30 theft cases were pending against them in many districts and they were remanded to judicial custody.
