The sixth round of free Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP-FMD) will be carried out in all villages of Tiruvannamalai district from December 16, 2024, to January 20, 2025.
FMD, a disease that causes significant economic losses in livestock, can be effectively prevented through regular vaccination. To combat this, the government has been conducting free vaccinations twice a year. Livestock farmers in the district are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their animals and ensure their welfare.
District Collector D Baskara Pandian emphasised the importance of achieving 100% vaccination coverage in the district to eradicate the disease. Farmers and the public are encouraged to ensure their cows and other livestock receive the vaccine during the scheduled days in their villages.
