 Around 92 percent of  construction work of the integrated textile complex in Erode was completed and erection of lift and escalator was in full swing now. 
The famous Gani Textile Market is located in the Panneer Selvam Park area of ​​Erode.  The market had 740 weekly shops and 240 daily shops. 

 To transform this textile market into an integrated textile business complex, Rs 51.59 lakh has been allocated to the Corporation under the Smart City scheme.  Following this, construction work began in December 2019.  For this, the old buildings in the textile market were demolished and work was started. 

 In order not to jeopardize the livelihood of the textile market traders, a new shed has been set up on behalf of the Corporation for the textile market traders in the remaining area of the construction site of the new textile business complex.  

Now,  92 percent of construction of the new textile complex was completed, while lift, escalator, electrical connection and painting works were in full swing. Corporation officials said the new integrated textile trading complex  is being constructed with three floors with an area of ​​12, 427 square meters. 

 292 shops have been built on all three sites.  Car and two wheeler parking facilities are also provided in the building. 

  Work is in progress to erect 4 lifts for public, one large lift for carrying cargo, 6 escalators for access to three sites at 2 locations, emergency lanes.  In addition, electrical connection work and painting work has been started and is in progress at all the three sites, they said
