A 2 kilometre cement road constructed to help people living in Javvadu hill

A 2-kilometre cement road has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 2 crore to benefit the residents of Javvadu Hills Kuttakarai Panchayat, located in the Kalasapakkam Assembly Constituency of Tiruvannamalai District.
This road is crucial for more than 3,000 hill dwellers from villages such as Kuttai Karai, Pathiri, Periyavalli, Pattan Kovilur, and Manju Ootur.
However, the forest department recently demolished parts of the road using a JCB machine, claiming that the construction was done without their permission. This action sparked outrage among local villagers, who protested against the forest officials, forcing them to leave the site. Social activists condemned the forest department's actions, labelling it an injustice to the hill dwellers, who had fought hard to get the road built.
Residents have expressed deep frustration over what they see as continuous encroachments and appealed for the road to be restored, as it is vital for accessing the area and holds historical significance, being a route to the ancient caves where dwarfs once lived.
