A digital identity for money transfers!

A digital identity for money transfers!

More than 80% of digital money transfers in India are currently made through UPI (Unified Payments Interface). Millions of people, businesses, and even small shops make transactions through UPI. Various apps like Google Pay and Paytm are used for this.
Currently, 4 or 6 digit secret numbers are used to make payments through such apps. The National Payments Corporation of India has planned to make digital money transfers more secure by avoiding forgetting the numbers and being exposed to money laundering due to theft of numbers.
In this regard, there are reports that it is planned to use biometrics. In this method, payers can pay using their fingerprint or facial recognition.
This is said to ensure that only those who are entitled to the money can pay and prevent money fraud.
It has been reported that the Centre will soon introduce the facility of making online transactions using biometrics instead of secret numbers. Experiments are underway in collaboration with several companies for this.
This method of using a physical identifier is welcome as fraudsters are at a disadvantage and lose money.
May this new procedure be implemented soon!
