A free medical check-up camp for breast cancer and diabetic care was organised for police officers and their families at the Coimbatore PRS Grounds, following the instructions of the Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore.
The event was held in collaboration with a private hospital and Young Indians, along with the Coimbatore Police Department.
The camp was inaugurated by Coimbatore Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, with Coimbatore South Deputy Commissioner K Saravanakumar, Armed Forces Assistant Commissioner A Shekhar, and Vehicle Division Police Inspector A Jayavel leading the initiative.
Dr. R Raja Shanmukha Krishnan from Coimbatore Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore Young Indians Founder S Manoj Krishna Kumar, and numerous police officers and their families participated in the camp.
During a subsequent media interview, Police Commissioner Balakrishnan addressed the incident involving the electrocution deaths of children in the Chinnavedampatti army quarters in Coimbatore.
Initially, a case was registered under CRPC 174 Unsuspicious Death, but further investigation led to the case being reclassified to 304A (accidental death).
He stated that actions would be taken against the responsible parties, including the contractor who connected the electricity to the park without proper permissions from the Corporation and Electricity Board. Commissioner Balakrishnan also mentioned that investigations are ongoing and assured that appropriate actions will follow.
He highlighted that during the summer, traffic police are provided with suitable uniforms, though some officers were not wearing their face shields
properly.
He emphasised that such medical camps are regularly conducted to ensure that police personnel remain physically strong and mentally de-stressed.
