O. Panneerselvam and Edappadi Palaniswami are clashing in the race for single leadership in AIADMK party and are divided into two factions. In the party 's General Council meeting, a resolution was passed that O. Panneerselvam will be sidelined and Edappadi Palaniswami will be the interim general secretary of the party. But O. Panneerselvam's side knocked on the doors of the court saying that this is invalid. After that the term limit for the post of Interim General Secretary also came to an end.
In the current environment, it is said that there is no one in the chair for the powerful single leadership of the AIADMK. But EPS and OPS are doing politics through statements and letters mentioning their positions. In this situation, successive turns are taking place. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had written to discuss the progress regarding the G20 summit to be held in India next year.
It mentioned Edappadi as interim general secretary of AIADMK. OPS was shocked by this. He immediately wrote a reply letter saying that he is the coordinator. It is not right for the central government to say this when the case is pending in court. He expressed his displeasure by saying not to call him like that anymore.
On behalf of the AIADMK, the budget accounts for the year 2021-22 were submitted to the Election Commission by Edappadi Palaniswami on November 29. Accepting this, the party's Interim General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami was uploaded on the official website. This made OPS tough again.
In the meantime, the Union Law Ministry has organized an all-party meeting to attend a consultation meeting on the issue of 'One Nation, One Election'. Accordingly, the invitation to the AIADMK went a step further and mentioned Edappadi Palaniswami as AIADMK General Secretary. This came as a blow to the OPS side.
Amidst this, the functional demonstration of the Remote Electronic Voting Machine will be held at the Election Commission in Delhi on January 16. Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu Sathyaprada Sahu has written to AIADMK to participate in this. In it, AIADMK coordinator and co-coordinator are mentioned.
If so, is O. Panneerselvam's position still the same? Does the Election Commission recognize him? It seems to find that OPS supporters are pleasantly surprised that his hand has been strengthened.
The party workers are worried that the falling and rising of OPS and EPS will lead the AIADMK to the path of destruction. Will AIADMK emerge as a responsible opposition party with its full strength at least in 2023?
Will there be an end to the power struggle between EPS and OPS? It will be decided by the courts and the Election Commission. Will it happen before the upcoming parliamentary elections?
