Aam Aadmi hoists its flag in BJP's Gujarat stronghold

The past few years have been winning years for the BJP. They have won multiple state assembly elections held across the country. But at the same time, they have also been losing the by-elections held in those states.
Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of winning the Maharashtra assembly elections through widespread electoral malpractice in many constituencies with the support of the Election Commission of India. This caused a stir across India.
On June 19, by-elections took place for five assembly seats in four states – Gujarat, Punjab, Kerala and West Bengal. Votes are counted, and the results were announced on Monday.
In Gujarat’s Visavadar constituency, Aam Aadmi Party’s former state president Gopal Italia won. He defeated his BJP counterpart by 17,554 votes. Though BJP had managed to retain its seat in Kadi, it had last won Visavadar in 2017.
Similarly, Aam Aadmi Party had won the Ludhiana west constituency in Punjab. The victory has been seen as important for them because of the claims that the influence of the ruling party in the state has been decreasing and people are dissatisfied with the government. The election results proved that the claims were baseless.
Meanwhile, Congress won the Nilambur constituency in Kerala, and Trinamool Congress retained its Kaliganj constituency in West Bengal.
The BJP has faced severe defeat in two of the five constituencies, shocking party cadres.
It is worth noting that the Aam Aadmi Party has MLAs in Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat, Goa, and Jammu and Kashmir. The Aam Aadmi Party's victory in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, known as the BJP's stronghold, is a major setback for the BJP.
