Action on collecting money from farmers at paddy procurement centres

Collector Rajagopal Sunkara has warned that strict action will be taken against employees who ask money from farmers at direct paddy procurement centers in Erode while receiving many petitions from the farmers at the farmers grievance meeting held at the collectorate on Tuesday.

K.R.Suthandrarasu said a tripartite meeting should be held to hear the demands of the sugarcane farmers. The agriculture department should get the appropriate amount of compensation to all the farmers whose crops have been affected under the crop insurance.

It should recommend to the Central government to set up a turmeric board divisional office in Erode. The scheme of providing jewelery loans to farmers at 4 per cent interest should be re-implemented in nationalized banks, he pleaded.
