Action will be taken on irregularities under Smart City project: Nehru

Municipal Administration Minister KN Nehru said that appropriate action will be taken after receiving the investigation report on the deficiencies of the Smart City project, carried out by the previous AIADMK rule. 
At a review meeting on the Urban Development Projects in various local bodies in the district, held at the Collectorate on Saturday, he said a committee headed by retired IAS officer Davidhar was formed to investigate the deficiencies in the works done under the Smart City project in various corporations. The committee is currently conducting an investigation including the irregularities in the administration of former minister Velumani and after receiving a report on the irregularities in the local bodies, appropriate action will be taken.

The chief minister has announced Rs 4800 cr 2nd phase of Hogenekkal drinking water project. Under the plan, the work of preparing a detailed project report is going on. Once it is available, the work will start. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has allocated Rs 1000 crore for the development of urban local bodies in the state.A study was carried out on it in the Collectorate.

In this study, the representatives of the urban local bodies have made various demands. 
They will be considered and appropriate action will be taken. Garbage tax is collected in urban areas based on the law brought by the Central government in 2014. 

There was a deficiency in some places in laying pipes under Uratchikottai Water Project in Erode. But, in Erode city, drinking water is being supplied in sufficient quantity, he said. 
Housing Minister Muthusamy, Minister of Publicity MP Saminathan, Urban Development Principal Secretary Sivadas Meena, Collector Krishnan Unni, Modakurichi MLA Dr. Saraswathi and many others participated in the review.
