After 4 years, 2 lakh Cubic Feet of water per second released from Mettur Dam

The release of water from Mettur dam has increased to 2 lakh cubic feet per second. The water release has increased from 1.85 lakh cubic feet per second to 2 lakh cubic feet at present.
Due to the continuous increase in the amount of water coming to Mettur Dam for the last 3 days the Mettur Dam has reached its full capacity. The water coming to Mettur Dam is being released through the 16 vents sluice gate. 

While 30 thousand cubic feet of water was released last 3 days, it has gradually increased and now it is being released to 2 lakh cubic feet of water.In 2018, 2.17 lakh cubic feet of water was released from Mettur Dam. People living along the banks of the Cauvery have been advised to move to safer places following the flood warning.

The Cauvery river flooded and water entered the residential areas of Kalaimamal Street, Indira Nagar, Anna Nagar near the old Cauvery Bridge, Manimegala Street, Indira Nagar along the banks of Kumarapalayam. 
The residents were subsequently evacuated and accommodated at Buddha Street Municipal Primary School and CSI Middle School near the Municipal Office.
In the meantime, officials led by TiruchengodeKotatchiyarIlachassi conducted a survey in the above areas. 
Then all the people living along the coast were advised to go to the security centers.
