Ahead of school reopening, collector chairs a meeting

District collector K Tharpagaraj on Monday chaired a meeting at his office in the city to review the ongoing preparatory works ahead of reopening the schools, and arrangements made for organizing supplementary examinations.
Ahead of reopening schools after summer vacation, basic works including infrastructure development, drinking water facility, and cleaning of classrooms, are taking place in 2004 government schools and 177 government-aided schools in the district.
In the meeting, the collector insisted on completing the works as soon as possible, so that students can have a pleasant time at their schools. 
Discussions regarding the arrangements made to conduct supplementary examinations for class X, XI and XII were held. About 2,175 class X students, 1,289 class XI students, and 1,761 class XII students failed to clear the public examination this year.
Tharpagaraj also insisted on providing proper guidance to students who have cleared class XII examination, to pursue higher education.
Chief educational officer Swami Muthalagan, corporation commissioner Selvabalaji, 
city health officer Prakash, and other officials attended the meeting.
