Election officials sealed a hall that has been used by the AIADMK members to organize meetings at Vairapalayam in the district following a complaint regarding money distribution. Following the demise of Congress MLA Thirumagan Eevera, the Erode East constituency fell vacant and the election commission has scheduled a by-poll on February 27.
Candidates from political parties including Congress, AIADMK, DMDK and NTK and independent candidates have filed their nominations to contest in the election. As the election date is nearing, candidates have kick-started their campaign across the constituency. Many are meeting voters at their doorstep, leaders from alliance parties have started visiting the constituency. In support of Congress candidate EVKS Elangovan, DMK ministers including Muthusamy and Senthil Balaji have landed in the constituency.

Similarly, former Chief Minister and AIADMK minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has camped there and campaigned in support of AIADMK candidate Thennarasu. Meanwhile, complaints have emerged that the AIADMK members were involved in money distribution at a hall that was being used to organize party meetings. Following the complaint, election officials reached the spot to inspect it.
But party cadres prevented them from entering the hall. After some time, officials removed the partymen from the hall and sealed it.The building was sealed by a team led by assistant election officer Muthukrishnan for holding meetings without getting prior permission.
