The Department of Vigilance and Anti-corruption (DVAC) have been conducting raids targeting former AIADMK ministers for the past one year. So far the raids have been completed at the places related to S.P Velumani, K.P Anbazhagan, K.C Veeramani, C. Vijayabaskar, M.R Vijayabaskar and P.Thangamani.
The latest round of raids were conducted at six places in Coimbatore namely the house of Chandrasekhar, his father's house and the house of his friends, who are close associates to S.P Velumani. The trial continued for the third day yesterday. But the raid was not conducted by the anti-corruption police of the state government. Unexpectedly, the Income Tax Department officials under the control of the Union government suddenly swooped in and conducted the search.
Political watchers believe that this raid by the Income Tax Department was done as a check to Edappadi K Palaniswami and S.P Velumani. Interestingly GPA Consultancy in Mylapore, Chennai is looking after the auditing work for ex-minister R. Kamaraj and contractor Seyadurai.
While the Income Tax Department has been conducting an inspection in this company for two days, DVAC officials also visited it yesterday. The officials of both the departments have checked together at the same place.
At the same time, the officials of the central government and the officials of the state government have surrounded the AIADMK, causing confusion in the AIADMK circles. Edappadi Palaniswami's side is facing a two-pronged attack as if it is a blow from both sides.
