Amrita University and TNJFU Collaborate on Sustainable Fisheries Solutions

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu Dr. J Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for the fisheries sector. 
The agreement was formalised at TNJFU’s Vice Chancellor’s office in the presence of Dr. N Felix, Vice Chancellor, TNJFU.
This collaboration brings together Amrita’s expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics with TNJFU’s in-depth knowledge of fisheries science. The joint efforts aim to improve real-time fish stock monitoring, optimise aquaculture operations, reduce waste, and develop sustainable waste treatment technologies to enhance the sector’s efficiency and resilience.
Representing Amrita University at the event were Cmde R Ravi Sankar (Retd.), Additional Director - Academia Industry Partnership, Dr. K Venkatasubramanian, Associate Professor & Chair (ECE), and Dr. C Ganesh Kumar, Assistant Professor (ECE). 
TNJFU’s team was led by Dr. Cheryl Antony, Director of Research, and Dr. Jeya Shakila, Dean of FCRI Ponneri. The teams have already identified key areas that require immediate attention.

The partnership aims to drive interdisciplinary research and innovation, ultimately strengthening India’s fisheries sector while ensuring environmental sustainability and global competitiveness.
