PSGR Krishnammal College for Women is effectively funded by the GRG Trust Foundation for promoting many new projects in community, technology and nature development to staff and students. Following a similar path, the project “Towards Eco Sustainability: Creating Outdoor Nature Classroom through Urban Forestation” had begun at Cheran Managar, Appachi Garden Reserve Site on June 19.
The event was headlined by Dr. Padmavathi (Dean Academic Support and Alumni Affairs) who supported and guided the primary analyst of the project Mrs. Kanagalatha, (Assistant Professor, Department of English).
The event was also attended by Dr.A.Akhilandeswari (Manager, Rural Women Technology Park), Dr. Tamilselvi, Dr. Suguna, Alumini , Councillor Mrs. Saraswathi, professors and student volunteers along with Lions Club of Coimbatore Tidal City and G-18 Public Charitable Trust who helped make the event a grand success. Dr. R. Nandini, Chairperson, Dr.N. Yasodha Devi, Secretary and Dr. S. Nirmala ,Principal congratulated the service.
The note “When one can’t find a shade to beat the heat, that’s when they realize the importance of the tree” had a huge impact on them. The Guest speakers and the organisers also delivered a short note on issues regarding deforestation and its consequences, global warming and how, as citizens they can contribute their part to the society.
The project aims on the need for outdoor reading, mental health, and also to promote man-nature relationship for sustainability of the community.
