The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly's Assurance Committee, led by Chairman Mr. T. Velmurugan and District Collector Mr.Karmegam, undertook an inspection today across various sectors in Salem District, particularly focusing on Yercaud. The committee, including legislators Mr. K. Annadurai, Mr. R. Arul, Mr. M.K. Mohan, and Mr. P. Ramalingam, assessed several sites, notably the Yercaud Government Hospital's post-mortem examination room.

The Committee's visit aimed to validate an announcement made by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu regarding the construction of a new autopsy room at Yercaud Government Hospital. The existing room was reported to be in a deteriorated state, prompting the need for a revamped facility estimated at Rs. 1 crore.

Upon inspection, the Committee confirmed the successful completion of the project. The new autopsy room not only fulfills the promise made by the Chief Minister but also boasts enhanced amenities, including cold storage capacity for six bodies and designated spaces for medical professionals. Emphasizing the importance of its maintenance, the officers overseeing the facility have been advised to ensure its proper upkeep before its imminent opening to the public.

Mr. T. Velmurugan, the Chairman of the Committee said, "The commitment made by the Chief Minister has been met. The facility will soon be operational ." Additionally, the committee's agenda includes visits to Kurumbapatti Zoo and the District Museum, followed by a review meeting at the Salem District Collectorate at 3 pm, engaging various government officials.
