Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM), Coimbatore, in association with the state tribal welfare department and their counseling partner Vasuki foundation organized an awareness programme on the scope of textile
education.
It is aimed at empowering tribal students by highlighting educational and career opportunities in the textile sector.
The event was presided over by Dr P Alli Rani, director of SVPISTM, who highlighted the Institute’s vision of inclusive education and skill development.
The Chief Guest, S Annadurai, tribal welfare department director spoke on the importance of textile education as a tool for social transformation, particularly for tribal communities.
He emphasized the state government’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives that enable equitable growth.
This was followed by an address by Vasuki Vinothini, founder of the Vasuki Foundation, who spoke on the vital role of counseling and guidance in bridging educational gaps and empowering tribal youth to pursue meaningful careers.
The programme included a dedicated awareness session on the scope of textile education, where participants were introduced to various academic and career pathways in the textile and apparel industries.
The session aimed to inspire tribal students to explore opportunities in this sector, backed by industry-relevant training and institutional support.
Interactive segments such as a quiz programme on textiles and general knowledge, and a vibrant fashion show presented by SVPISTM students, added a creative touch to the event, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of the student community.
