In a dramatic turn of events, a male child was delivered in an ambulance while en route to the hospital in Kannambadi a hill village, approximately 27 km from Yercaud.
The expectant women Jayakodi and her husband Palanivel,residents of Kannambadi village, found themselves in a frantic situation when Jayakodi went into labor at 1 amSaturday
night.
Without hesitation, the couple contacted emergency services, and a 108 ambulance promptly arrived at the scene.
However, their journey was not without challenges, as the ambulance navigated through unmaintained roads, causing delays.
As they made their way towards the hospital, the situation intensified as Jayakodi's labor pains increased.
In a remarkable display of presence of mind and skill, the medical assistant, Arjun, attended to the delivery inside the ambulance. Jayakodi successfully gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Later the ambulance drove into the Government Primary Health Centre in Kadayampatti with the newborn and her parents. Jayakodi and babe were admitted and attended by nurses and the doctor.
This incident sheds light on the challenges faced by expecting mothers in remote areas and underscores the importance of accessible and efficient healthcare services, especially during emergencies.
