The beneficiaries who got houses under the TamilNadu Urban Habitat Development Board (TNUHDB) thanked the CM MK Stalin for ensuring a decent livelihood for them.
Of 11890 flats, sanctioned for Erode district under TNUHDP for those who were living in objectionable water course aread, 1184 flats have been completed and 932 beneficiaries got allotment orders from the CM through a video conference held on Jan 10, 2022.
Of the total cost of the 400 sq ft house, the Central grant is Rs 1.50 lakh, the state government and beneficiary contribution is Rs. 7.00 lakh. Each flat is built with living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, toilet and balcony. In addition, all the basic facilities like street lights, road, rainwater drainage, library, shops, park and community center will be set up in these areas.
A beneficiary R. Sheila, wife of Ravichandran, living in a flat at Kollampalayam, Erode, says ''she resided with 2 children in a hut near Kalliyankadu (Odaipallam) for the last 36 years, in the midst of stinking, mosquito-infested, unhygienic state of the stream. Now, she got a flat with the Erode Corporation itself remitting beneficiary contribution.
Now, we are living very happily. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the CM for giving us a flat with all facilities to lead a decent life.
Another allottee K. Jemila, wife of Kajamaideen has 2 children. She also lived in a hut along the Perumpallam Odai for the last 10 years due to her poverty. During rainy season, rainwater would enter the house. She has no fund to live a rental house. So, she suffered much.
She submitted a petition to the District Collector seeking a house. Subsequently, the board sought some details and within a month she received the allotment order from collector. Now, her family was living in a comfortable house with safety thanks to the CM, she lauded.
