Bharat Knowledge System should replace IKS, says TN Governor Ravi

The Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Higher Education Teachers Association (THETA) and Unnatha Vidyabhyasa Adhyapaka Sangham (UVAS), hosted a two-day seminar titled "Envisioning New Bharat - Educational Reforms and Indigenous Systems" at Vivanta Coimbatore on June 8 and 9, 2024. The event, attended by 500 faculty members from prestigious institutions nationwide, aimed to explore India's rich traditions and indigenous values.
Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi inaugurated the seminar, which featured speakers like Prof. Manish R Joshi, UGC Secretary, and Prof. K Kumaraswamy, Former Professor of English, Salem. 
The event also saw participation from Vice Chancellors of state and central universities, and Directors from IITs and IIMs.
Governor Ravi emphasised India's historical economic supremacy and the transformative impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, calling for a shift from the Indian Knowledge System to the Bharat Knowledge System. 
Prof. Manish Joshi highlighted the significant growth of Indian institutions in the QS World University Rankings, attributing the success to enhanced academic reputation and international accreditation.
The seminar also addressed financial improvements for educators, with ABRSM advocating for the transition from the 5th Pay Commission to the 7th Pay Commission. Dr. CA Vasuki noted India's emergence as a knowledge superpower, driven by skill, agility and creativity.
The event concluded with a call for unity and ambition, underscoring India's potential to lead in global 
education.
