Birth anniversary of Avinashilingam commemorated

The 122st birth anniversary of Avinashilingam, the founder of the Avinashilingam trust institutions, and the first chancellor of Avinashilingam institute for home science and higher education for women, was observed in a grand manner at the college premises in the city.
CP Radhakrishnan, the Governor of Maharashtra, took part as the chief guest and delivered his keynote address at the event.
Speaking about Avinashilingam, he said, “He is a rare gem that stands as the evergreen embodiment of service and sacrifice, who tirelessly worked for the country and its people and will always be celebrated as someone who was sensitive to the needs of the people from all strata of society and strived to uplift them and give them a better life through education.”
He said that he was fortunate to study in the school that was started in the name of Subramania Chettiar.
Elaborating on the extraordinary level of service-mindedness and affinity towards nation building that Avinashilingam’s family possessed, Radhakrishnan referred to him as the one who is selfless, industrious, dedicated, and has sharp focus, will definitely reach the pinnacle of success.
He also urged the students to cultivate friendships that fortify your ambitions, helping you to grow and evolve to the highest version of yourself.
In his presidential address, TSK Meenakshisundaram Chancellor and Managing Trustee of the Avinashilingam Education Trust, described how Avinashilingam as a freedom fighter followed the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, incorporating value education that aligned with Indian philosophy and culture, as a core component.
Lifetime trustee K Kulandaivel, registrar H Indu, vice-chancellor Bharathi Harishankar, and others attended the event.
