BJP govt discriminates against Tamil

It has been a known fact that the BJP-led union government has been prioritizing Hindi and Sanskrit languages over other languages, and has been pulling all strings to impose Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states.
Recently, a piece of information, sought under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, revealed that the BJP government has spent about Rs 2,533 crores for the development and promotion of Sanskrit in the last decade. Sanskrit is not an official language in any state, and only a few thousands of people speak it. But it has allocated only Rs 147.56 crore for the development of native languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Odia, during the same stint.
The Union government has allocated only Rs 113.48 crore for the development of Tamil, which is the first language to be declared as an ancient language, in the last decade. Fund allocation for Sanskrit is at least 17 times more than the fund allocated for the development of other native languages in the country. While an average of Rs 230.24 crore has been spent annually on Sanskrit, only Rs 13.41 crore has been spent on other five languages per year.
That’s why native Tamil speakers, who have been at the receiving end of hateful and deceitful actions of the BJP, have been giving befitting replies in the elections. This realization, which had been at the state-level, has started to spread north. Restoration of state’s rights has become a national slogan now.
With the assembly elections gearing fast, BJP leader and union home minister Amit Shah has been making efforts to visit Tamil Nadu frequently. Why hasn’t he shown interest in ensuring appropriate fund allocation for development projects in Tamil Nadu and for Tamil. Though the BJP government is struggling to give a proper answer, the truth is the ideological contradiction, and social justice that is prioritized in the state.
