Bomb threat to Collector’s office for the third time creates panic

A fresh bomb threat e-mail sent to the Coimbatore District Collector’s office today created panic among the staff and public.
According to police sources, an employee noticed the threatening e-mail at around 10.45 am, claiming that a bomb had been planted inside the Collector’s office and would explode. Shocked by the message, the staff immediately alerted higher officials. Following this, a formal complaint was lodged with the Race Course Police Station.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, along with sniffer dogs and metal detectors, rushed to the spot. Intensive searches are underway in the entire office complex and adjoining buildings. The situation caused anxiety among employees and visitors, with security measures tightened across the premises.
This is not the first such incident. The Collector’s office had earlier received similar e-mail threats on August 26 and 27. Today’s mail marks the third such threat from the same mysterious sender.
Cyber Crime Police have joined the probe and are working to trace the origin of the e-mails. Meanwhile, police sources confirmed that the searches are being conducted as a precautionary measure and appealed to the public not to panic.
