The Chief Minister M.K Stalin announced several new schemes including breakfast for school children in the state assembly today.Delivering speech in the assembly marking the completion of one year of the DMK government, M.K Stalin said the achievements of the DMK government in the last one year was immeasurable. " I speak in the assembly with confidence that I have toiled for the people of Tamilnadu in the last one year.
I am not like Kalaignar. I do not know to speak like him but I tried to work hard like him," said Stalin. Listing the DMK government's achievements, Stalin said, that 2.9 crore people had benefited from the Rs.4000 corona pandemic relief. One crore people benefited from reduction of Aavin milk price by Rs.3 per litre. 1.34 crore people have been included newly in the Kalaignar Medical Insurance Scheme. 1,24,000 farmers got assistance under the Farmers' Protection Scheme. 30 lakh people benefited from door-to-door education scheme. 56,000 children were enrolled in schools under compulsory education scheme. Ninety six thousand persons benefited from the Community Valaikappu Scheme.
As many as 1.71 lakh fishermen 's families were given Rs 5,000 assistance. The rural drinking water connection scheme reached 14.32 lakh homes. Sixty eight thousand people got jobs through special job melas. As many as 63,077 police men's families have been benefitted under the one day leave scheme. In the current year, Rs 80 core was spent on channel desilting work over a length of 4,694 kms. Welfare aid was given to 1.85 lakh unorganised workers. A government hospital in Guindy, compulsory test in Tamil for government jobs, health at the door-step were among the many schemes carried out in the last one year said the Chief Minister.
He further said that Tamilnadu has emerged as the favourite destination of investors. 70 per cent of the schemes announced were implemented and they include, Kamarajar College Development Scheme, Book shandies in the districts, commission for police force, museum of archeology in Porunai, Meendum Manjapai movement against plastics. Gold loan waiver scheme benefitted 22,20,109 people.
Dearness allowance hike helped 9.32 lakh people. 1.50 lakh people were given land pattas. The government schemes reached all. I have lived up to the confidence of the people have on me. "We do what we say and say what we do. The Dravidian model is all benfits for all. It is the government's objective. Although the food served in the house of a Nari Kuravar home was spicy, there was love in it.
The Nari Kuravars told me that because their food is spicy they do not get coronavirus. The Government is a spicy government that prevents all infectious diseases. My concern is to live up to the confidence reposed on the government.
Government school children will be served breakfast. It will be expanded to all students. Special nutrition scheme for children below 6 years will be implemented," said the Chief Minister.
He further said that schools will be upgraded at an outlay of 108 core. The Chief Minister in Your Constituency Scheme will be implemented in all the 234 constituencies. Rs 1000 crore has been allocated for the same, the Chief Minister said.
Urban Health Centres will be started on the lines of Rural Primary Health Centres. As many as 708 Urban Medical Centres would be established in all corporations in the state. The government has six priority schemes including world class infrastructure. Financial constraints and Union Government's actions are the dampeners to the government's initiatives. All election promises will be fulfilled said the Chief Minister in the assembly.
