The world-famous Pushkar Camel Fair in Rajasthan has once again captured national attention, with prized livestock worth several crores participating in this year’s exhibition.
Among the star attractions is a Marwari horse named Shahbaz, valued at an astonishing Rs 15 crore. The two-and-a-half-year-old stallion, owned by Gary Gill from Chandigarh, has become the centre of attraction for visitors and breeders alike.
Speaking about his prized horse, Gill said, “Shahbaz has participated in many national exhibitions and won several awards. There’s huge demand for breeding, and we charge Rs 2 lakh for each session. So far, buyers have offered up to Rs 9 crore, but we’re not selling him.”
Equally impressive is a buffalo named Anmol from Rajasthan, valued at Rs 23 crore. Known for his massive 1,500 kg weight, Anmol was also showcased at last year’s fair. His owner revealed that the buffalo is fed a daily diet of milk mixed with ghee and dry fruits, contributing to his robust health and high breeding value.
Other notable participants include a horse named Badal, worth Rs 10 crore, and a buffalo named Rana, valued at Rs 25 lakh.
According to Dr. Sunil Ghia, Joint Director, Rajasthan State Livestock Development Department, “The Pushkar Fair, which began on October 23, will continue till November 7. So far, more than 3,000 cattle have been registered for the exhibition.”
The fair, renowned for showcasing the finest breeds of camels, bulls, buffaloes, and horses, continues to draw traders, breeders, and tourists from across the country, reaffirming Pushkar’s legacy as one of India’s most vibrant livestock fairs.
