Calf Injured in Pakistan Attack Walks Again with Prosthetic Limb

A young calf injured during a cross-border attack by Pakistan earlier this year has regained mobility after receiving an artificial leg, thanks to the determined efforts of its owner and an innovative veterinarian.
The calf belonged to Rajesh, a tea stall owner from R.S. Pura in Jammu, whose house was damaged during Pakistan’s retaliatory strike following India’s Operation Sindh. Rajesh’s calf suffered a severe injury, losing its leg in the chaos. Poor weather and restricted access in the region hindered timely veterinary care. Undeterred, Rajesh approached Dr. Thapesh Mathur, a Rajasthan-based veterinarian known for designing the ‘Krishna Limb’ a custom prosthetic for animals. Dr. Thapesh successfully fitted the calf with an artificial leg, allowing the one-and-a-half-year-old animal to stand and walk normally
again.
Over the past 11 years, Dr. Thapesh has provided prosthetic limbs to more than 500 animals across 22 states, including cows, horses, goats, and even rabbits. His pioneering work has earned him national recognition and numerous awards in animal rehabilitation.
