On the occasion, many women devotees worshipped the river by lighting lamps, doing aarathi with flowers to the river and left the lamps by keeping it on arecanut plates in the river.

Presiding over the function, Coimbatore Kamatsipuri Satha Sri Gnanaguru Sivalingeswara Swamy said ''the pooja will be held every year on 'Aani Pournami' day every year to create awareness among public on the need to protect the water courses from pollution and encroachment problems as water is the most essential need of all lives in the world. So, since ancient days, Rivers were worshipped as Goddesses by holding Kumbhmelas''.
