Following reports from NGOs that cancer cases are high in the Erode, Kanyakumari and Ranipet Districts, cancer screening tests will soon be arranged in the districtd, said Health Minister M Subramaniam.
Inaugurating a mass hand cleaning program at the Erode government IRT medical college, Perundurai, he said that the program was held in all 2284 PHCs in the state in connection with the World Hands Hygiene Day of WHO today.
The WHO said 24 percent of people infected with diseases due to unhygienic condition of hands of health staff who attend patients.
If the hands are kept in hygienic manner, 70 percent of life loss due to infection of disease could be prevented.
So, the program is held in all hospitals in the state today to create awareness on the issue. He said post mortum section will be opened for Thalavadi PHC this year as per the request of the hill people there.
Health infrastructure will be improved in all hill villages in the state this year, he assured.
