A total of 4,125 people from Erode district applied for the 19 veterinary assistants posts in the animal husbandry department and interview for them was scheduled to be held from April 26 to the 29.
Accordingly, the interview was held on 26 and 27 at the premises of the Veterinary Multipurpose Hospital at State Bank Road, Erode, with verification of certificates.
They demonstrated how to handle cattle and ride cycle. In this situation, it was announced that the interview to be held for the next two days will be canceled due to administrative reasons and a board was kept in the premises.Unaware of this, more than 200 applicants came for the interview as usual this morning. The enraged applicants besieged the hospital.
Following this, more than 50 policemen led by Town DSP Ananthakumar rushed to the spot and the applicants then got into an argument with them.
According to the applicants, they were not formally told about cancellation and sought real reason for cancellation of interview.
Palanivel, Zonal Joint Director, Department of Animal Husbandry, explained the interview was cancelled due to administrative reason as per the government order.
He said the applicants would be invited in future as the office has cellphone numbers of all applicants. Then, they dispersed from the office.
