Car catches fire at Collectorate

When an officials meeting was held at the Erode Collector's Office, the car of Thirumurugan (45), General Manager, District Industries Center, Chennimalai Road, Erode, parked in the premises, caught fire suddenly.  When Thirumurugan went to the meeting, the  car driver Dinesh shocked to see smoke coming from the car.  He immediately got out of the car and looked down at the engine  and suddenly the fire started blazing and burning away.

There was a commotion in the office.  Dinesh then took the fire extinguisher and tried to extinguish the fire.  Meanwhile, other employees in the Collector's Office informed the Erode Fire Station.  Firefighters rushed to the scene and sprayed water.  The fire was extinguished after about half an hour struggle. However the front of the car was burned and damaged  and the engine battery was completely damaged.  Surampatti police are investigating the matter
