CBI bursts NEET racket, arrests 8 people including its mastermind

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has bursted a NEET racket by arresting eight people including the suspected mastermind and paper solvers who had allegedly impersonated real candidates in order to help them clear the NEET examination for undergraduate medical courses. The examination took place on Sunday across the country.

Based on a tip-off that people were being provided to impersonate real candidates and appear for the
NEET examination, the agency had registered a case against 11 people and raided multiple examination centres.

The sleuths then arrested Sushil Rajan, suspected mastermind, and Nidhi from Havelock square in Delhi, while picking up Raghunandan from Patparganj, Saurav from Shakurpur, Bharat Singh from Safdarjung Hospital’s
hostel in Delhi,
Krishna Shankar Yogi and Sunny Ranjan from Faridabad, and Jeepu Lal from Haryana.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Ranjan and his associates had been providing proxies for several candidates in
Delhi and Haryana in exchange for a huge sum.

According to sources, the accused had collected user IDs and passwords of the candidates and
made required modifications to get the examination hall of their choice. They also morphed the identity cards of the candidates to ensure that they were not caught.

A similar NEET racket was bursted by the CBI in September 2021.
The racket had collected Rs 50 lakh per candidate to provide them proxies to appear for the examination.
