Modakurichi MLA Dr CK Saraswathi informed that the Centre has created block, district, and state level health assemblies to assess the infrastructure needs of hospitals and obtain World Bank loan to fulfill the needs.
Addressing the District Health Assembly meeting, arranged by public health department, at Velalar School, here on Wednesday, she said public representatives, local body leaders, NGOs and officials were members of the assemblies and they submitted the needs of hospitals in their areas. The demands would be compiled by state health assembly which could sent it to the Union Health Ministry and then fund would be sanctioned.
The scheme is first of its kind in the nation. Last year 14 districts and this year another 14 districts convened the assemblies and the remaining districts would be covered next year. The scheme would improve the health sector to a great extent in the nation, she hoped.
Regarding the needs in her segment, she sought own buildings for the health sub centres at Pudupalayam, Kumarapalayam and Avudayarparai. Thandampalayam and Thamaraipalayam, Chennasamuthram PHC nurses quarters, Kombanaipudhur, Ganapathypalayam, Ezhumathur, Arachalur, Palliyuthu and Lingathakuttai health centres need compound walls. Avalpoondurai PHC needs Scan, ECG, Toilet, Ramp, Patients waiting room, Ganapathypalayam and Ezhumathur PHCs need patients waiting rooms.
The roofs of Mugasianumanpillai and Lingathakuttai centres need repair works. Ezhumathur centre needs refrigerator and oxygen cylinder B Type. Ganapathypalayam and Ezhumathur centres need NCD rooms, she added.
