Chief Minister MK Stalin launches ‘drug-free Tamil Nadu’ scheme

Chief Minister MK Stalin launches ‘drug-free Tamil Nadu’ scheme

The government should not show any reluctance to crack down on drug peddlers, said chief minister MK Stalin after launching the ‘drug-free Tamil Nadu’ scheme at Kalaivanar hall in Chennai on Thursday.
The state government has been taking several measures to curtail the movement of drugs in the state and as a part of it, the scheme was launched in the state. He then inaugurated a programme to create awareness about ill-effects of using drugs. Stalin along with government officials and students took a pledge to eradicate drugs in the state.

Everyone right from police personnel, parents and teachers have an important role in eradicating drugs as it requires a joint effort, Stalin said, urging the parents to spend more time with their wards and to have patience with them. “Both endless love and endless reprimand are dangerous,” he added.

“I will be happy while participating in events. But, this time, I am not happy. Increase in usage
of drugs in the state has caused me immense sadness. The government will show no reluctance to crackdown on drug peddlers.

Everyone should join hands to eradicate the menace,” he said.“Destruction is the only known path of drugs. Don’t search for a reason to use drugs. Instead look for a solution to solve the problems. Drugs are not a single-man issue. They are a menace to society.

The government has decided to strengthen the laws against usage of drugs and set up a separate court to deal with such cases,” he said. He urged all the police personnel to take a pledge to identify the places where movement of drugs is high and to crackdown it.
