Chief Minister MK Stalin praised Indian-origin astronaut Sunita Williams in the Tamil Nadu Assembly for her resilience during her recent space mission.
Addressing the Assembly, Stalin highlighted how Williams and American astronaut Barry Wilmore faced a technical glitch while stationed at the International Space Station (ISS) for 287 days. Reports had raised concerns about their health and safety, but they continued their work undeterred. Eventually, the Dragon spacecraft, launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, successfully reached the ISS and facilitated their return. Sunita Williams, Wilmore, and two other astronauts safely landed in the sea near Florida, bringing relief and joy to many.
Stalin expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Williams and the entire team involved in ensuring their safe return. Several national leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, have also extended their congratulations. Tamil Nadu Opposition Leader Edappadi Palaniswami conveyed his greetings on social media.
