A city-based consumer forum, Citizens Voice Coimbatore, celebrated its 40th anniversary at their newly opened premises in the city.
The Gedee meeting hall, supported by GD charities, was declared open by the district collector GS Sameeran. Addressing the gathering, the collector appreciated the forum for its pioneering role in creating awareness among the public and student community, over the last 40 years.
In collaboration with AIMS, an NGO, the forum has launched a field water test kit to analyze the water to find out its minerals, TDS and Ph value.
This service is being offered to citizens on a free of charge basis and the equipment was demonstrated to college students by a qualified water analyst MS Rajukumar.
A handbook on the latest consumer protection act, an abridged version in Tamil, modified by senior team members of the forum was formally released by the collector.
The forum has also signed MoUs with various colleges from Coimbatore, Pollachi and Erode.
