Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin said he wished that the state should turn into a trillion dollar economy by 2030.
Addressing a meeting of the federation of exporters in Alwarpet in Chennai today, the Chief Minister said that the south zone contributed significantly to the overall Indian exports.
Tamilnadu government has taken steps to give adequate support to the export organisations. Of the 35,000 exporters in the country 5000 were from Tamilnadu. Tamilnadu stood 3rd in the country in industrial development. It has been predicted that the south zone’s exports would increase by 35 per cent.
The south zone’s contribution to overall exports was 27 per cent. The small and micro sector contribution to exports was significant he said. More funds have been allocated to the small and micro industries sector in the current year. We have been advised to create a knowledge city. As many as 43 products with Geographical Identification would boost export potential.
Application has been sent for Geographical Identification certificate for 24 products from Tamilnadu. Export trade must increase in Tamiladu. The federation of exporters must do its role in taking the schemes of the Central Government to the exporters.
The Chief Minister appealed to the federation to help create export guide for every product category. Rs 100 Crore allocation has been announced for the development of export development infrastructure.
The Chennai outer ring road project has been allocated a fund of Rs 2,250 crore. Rs.1, 200 crore has been allocated for the development of the Chennai-Kanniyakumari highway. Rs. 628 crore has been allocated for the Tamilnadu Road Development Project. Ministers T.M Anbarasan, ThangamThenarasuwere among those who were present along with leading exporters. The Chief Minister gave away prizes to outstanding exporters.
