Tamilnadu Government will take action based on the CBCID’s report in the investigations of the alleged custodial death of a remand prisioner Thangamani of Thiruvannamalai said Chief Minister M.K Stalin.
Speaking about the subject in the Assembly today during the zero hour, the Chief Minister said that he had already gone on record in the Assembly that he would explain to the Assembly members about the Thiruvannamalai custodial death issue after the post mortem report is received.
Thangamani was arrested by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing on April 26, 2022 and after being lodged in the sub-jail he developed seizures and died on April 27, 2022. A case was registered following his death, the Judicial Magistrate held inquiries and as per the order of the Madras High Court, post mortem was done.
Stalin further said, the relatives of the deceased received the body after the post mortem when the North Zone IG, the District Collector, Superintendent of Police showed the videos recorded in the hospital, explained to them all developments since the arrest was made and assured that fair investigation would be conducted.
The case has been transferred to the CBCID and the police men involved in remanding Thangamani have been transferred to other districts. The Government’s will take appropriate action as per the CBCID’s investigation report said Stalin.
