Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday inaugurated the newly established book park at Central metro rail station in the city. The book park has been set up at a cost of Rs 1.85 crore by the school education department to house 10,000 books.
The CM released 84 books of the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation.
He also launched the e-commerce website for the sale of textbook corporation publications.
This book park covers 5,000 square feet and contains 70 book shelves. It includes a small auditorium, tables with comfortable seating, and a snack café. More than 50 publishers and vendors are showcasing their books in this park.
Through this, passengers can access a wide range of books. Visitors can read any book in the park, and if they like it, they can also purchase it. All books are offered at a 10% discount.
This book park features books in Tamil, Telugu, other South Indian languages, English, and also translated books in world languages. Officials stated that the library will operate from 9 am to 9 pm.
Ministers Sekarbabu, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, and mayor Priya attended the event.
