Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday inaugurated Mavooth village that was established with 44 houses at the cost of Rs 5.06 crore at Theppakadu elephant camp in Mudumalai tiger reserve in the district for elephant mahouts. He inspected the houses, and interacted with the beneficiaries.
As per a census conducted in 2024-25, forests in Tamil Nadu accommodates about 3,036 elephants. Since electrical bare wires pass through the forest to light tribal settlements in the forest, it poses as a threat to wild animals. Considering the safety of elephants, the bare wires are converted into aerial bunched cables for about 15 kilometers.
He also inaugurated the services of the aerial bunched cable from Torapalli to Theppakadu that was established at the cost of Rs 5 crore, and flagged off the services of 32 all terrain vehicles for the use of forest guards at the cost of Rs 2.93 crore.
